Well, a motorcycle offers zero protection in an accident -- you're
pretty much toast no matter what.  An airplane, even without power, is
a flying machine and will happily glide many miles on its way to the
ground.  For the vast majority of accidents, as long as the pilot
retains control of the plane (i.e., as long as he doesn't freak out),
he and his passengers should always walk away from any accident.

I feel much safer in a Cessna at 2,000 feet than I do in a Toyota on
the Turnpike.

No, but the FAA gets pretty upset if they get enough reports of you
"buzzing" someone's neighborhood.  And from those low heights,
everyone can read your tail number. ;)
