in palm beach, i joined the young republicans back in 2000 or so. same
thing there as far as participating. only 150 members and only half a
dozen of them actually doing anything month to month...i have done many
things like volunteer at the library to put books back on the shelf
where they belong, pick up litter, feed the hungry, that is my nature. i
fix things around my neighbors' homes and resist any attempt to pay me
for my efforts although i do take table scraps :-) ^2. i am a community
oriented person since i was a child. i had it made in the shade and
figured the only thing left for me to do was help other people.
since #flux was not even listed on the flux.org website i only happened
upon it by chance, it would be just as easy to start a new one and then
maybe even publish the location so that folks who are troubleshooting a
certain problem doesn't clog up the mail lists. maybe state a problem on
the list then go to irc to chat back and forth and publish the results
back on the list. i took the liberty to start #flux-talk if anyone with
a bellybutton wants to discuss it in real time i am idling there.

ps. rueben led me to believe he was yeilding the channel back and then
changed his tack on the spur of the monent claiming his reason was that
no one from flux was using it < a lie as several were there > so he
kicked me and changed #flux to invite-only. he did not say, i'll give
it back if flux uses it, he said he was gonna move his operation to
#fluxradiostaff and flux wasn't his but "ours" until dkr made these
statements:
<dkr> aloha
<dkr> I stopped autojoining this chan last year when the crowd of us
that started it years ago died out. :)
<dkr> howdy grumpydog. I haven't seen you in ##politics in a long
while. :)
<dkr> looks like biz took down his web server with the channel stats
page, too: http://www.jbisbee.com/linux/irc/
from my point of view ... that is what put the nail in the coffin not
me, i also have the logs where rueben says he agrees to vacate but lost
the password so the staff at freenode will have to get involved...
