Sure...=20
I use smbmount=20
smbmount //{server}/{share name} /{linux path}/{mount point) -o
credentials=3D/{path to credentials file}
Example: smbmount //win2000/dept_editors
/remotefolders/win2000/dept_editors -o
credentials=3D/etc/samba/smbauth.win2000
Credential file contents - can be place anywhere, I leave it as root
owned with r/w only:
username =3D {user id}
password =3D {password}
If your authentication level is different (ex: share level... One
password for a directory, not based on user) the credential files may
have to be different.=20

Subject: [Linux] Using Samba
Is it possible to open a file from linux to win 2000, on the 2000
server? (using Samba) The only way I have found is to move the file to
the linux machine, edit, return it to the win 2000 server. The files are
used by four to six users and contains data that is being changed,
constantly. Opening on the server prevents other users access while the
file is open, thus the desired outcome.=20
