[Linux] Buffer I/O error on device hda1, logical block 0

That's lucky indeed. My last HD failure was a weird one, on a Quantum
drive made right before the merger. The drive failed at 4 years with a
peculiar syndrome in which it'd just lock up the system hard on any read
attempt. I ran the diagnostic utility which gave me the magical Secret
RMA Decoder Ring code, and found out that Maxtor had mysteriously
extended the warranty on that series of drives to 5 years. I guess
they'd been seeing a lot of weird failures.

I forget what model it was, but it was an 80 gig. Amazingly, that late
on in the game, Quantum was still using Phillips head screws on their
drives. I never really understood that... phillips screws/drivers do
tend to flake off Kellogg's Metal Crispies when manipulated.
