[Linux] Ubuntu 7.10 and su or sudo

Having recently made the switch from Debian 4.0 to Kubuntu 7.10, I have to say this:
THE WHOLE SU/SUDO THING IS ANNOYING!!!!
Sorry to shout but it's true. I've always been accustomed to running as root for so many maintenance and management tasks that running without it now is nearly impossible due to constantly forgetting "sudo" in front of a command.
I set a root password and locked external services down. Much easier that way.

Yes, I know Ubuntu is trying to protect me from my own potential
carelessness by hiding root... but I miss it otherwise
