[Linux] Confounded by apache2 on ubuntu 7.10 server

Eventually I will. I decided to limit the software on this machine to the
absolute minimum, but already I am straying... I d/l it, but when I tried to
install it with debi or dpkg, it had dependencies, so I stopped at that
point.

I want to install wordpress and pmwiki first (actually, wordpress is
installable via apt-get, but I think it is not configured as installed).
Pmwiki runs from a tar.gz, and I have to re-read the manual to configure it
correctly. I copied my tar from the last time I had a site on it, which is
about a year ago, but it was limping along at that point (text ran fine, but
images did not load, which put my trust in the password protections in
doubt, so I am going to configure from scratch now, after I have re-read the
documentation...)
