[Linux] no video bios message before POST

Check out the physical connections to the monitor. I had the same thing
happen when the VGA pin was not inserted all the way, but the effect
disappeared once I plugged it in firmly.
It may be that the dongle (or whatever the piece that accepts the VGA
connector is called) is a bit twisted and you are not getting a good enough
contact.
Then again, it may be something completely different...
