last week my computer was bumped and the video card and its connection to t=
he monitor were partly unseated. when i turned it on, the screen was pinkis=
h. after many permutations of swapping in and out cards and searching and b=
ios settings and so on, i finally found out that the monitor was hurt. i wo=
uld have figured this out earlier, but my back was sore and i did not dare =
to lift and swap monitors. later a friend helped me and we saw right away t=
hat the pinkish problem was only with one monitor. however, now i do not se=
e the momentary video bios splash message before the normal POST/splash of =
the motherboard's bios. this change occurred during this latest struggle.=20
searching the web for a reason for this, and whether this is related to my =
video card not doing the 3d driver install anymore, i have stumbled into qu=
ite a confusing time. perhaps someone here has fixed that before and can su=
ggest where to find the right online resources. sometimes all you need is t=
he correct technical term.

on another note, recordmydesktop works very good for screencasting. the out=
put is better than other screencasting software i tried. in fact, the outpu=
t ogg theora could have the slogan, 'is it live or is it ogg?' and it is fa=
st too.
