I've played a little with google maps (www.capazzi.com/peter/gmaps)

I've never worked with KML... but here's something regarding it in the
API:
http://code.google.com/apis/maps/sitemap.html

Good luck.=20

Subject: [Linux] Google Maps Question

This is not a linux question per se, but I think it is too technical for
Talk.

I would like to know if there is a way to display a trail (collection of
points, each with longitude and latitude) in Google maps.

In Google Earth, I can take a point, enter the coordinates, and see it
on a map (satellite imagery, usually). I can do the same in Google maps.

In Google Earth, I can take a track (trail) from a GPS unit, in an XML
format known as KML (supposedly also from a different file format called
GPX, which is also (I think) an XML file, and it will open and display
on the same map as the point. I can also open a point in Google Earth
(presented as a single item KML file).

Can I do something similar in Google maps? That is, open a KML or KMZ or
GPX file in it, so it displays on the map, rather than on the satellite
image?

If you would like to see what I am doing, take a look at
http://www.words2u.net/pmwiki/?n=3DTracks.SantaBarbaraToOakHerbFarm -
there is a kml file, which, if you have Google Earth installed, will
show it. There may be other programs that process KML files, but I like
Google Earth.

Thanks,

Z.
