[Linux] HP Postscript help

On a Debian system, /etc/papersize should contain
"letter",
I think the default is "A4" (European).
Not sure if this applies to other distros.

Originally my cheap Samsung had the margins all messed
up,
and manual modifications to the PPD didn't help
either.
Over time, updates were made to CUPS, Foomatic,
Gimp-Print, etc. and the
margins were magically fixed one day after an update.
So I'd try to make sure all relevant parts of the
printing system are the latest available.
There is usually more than one choice for a PPD to
drive a particular printer,
and the results, especially on margins, differ.

Actually, it is possible to print a Postscript file
using only Ghostscript
(from the ESP/CUPS people) by selecting the correct
formatter (in my case "samsunggdi")
and output to /dev/lp0 (or /dev/usb0, etc.).
I use Ghostscript for printing sometimes after the
CUPS people decide to completely
revise their config. files and it takes a while to
figure out how
 to get CUPS working again.

Sorry for the messy formatting, Yahoo Mail->Flux
produces infinitely wide lines.
