For what its worth -- (one individual's vote) - I agree completely with
Adam's comments.
Its awesome that someone put the effort to setup a wiki, two thumbs up
from me. Its a nice toy but unfortunately, wiki's do need maintenance
and can quickly resemble a trash heap. I have seen this happen - twice
- once even in a "controlled" corporate environment. And just starting
fresh isn't that easy, there is always some content on the old wiki
that is worth keeping and its very painful to migrate it.

If we need more flexibility on the flux.org site, perhaps its time to
make it more flexible and wiki-like and give a larger group of
individuals control over adding/approving content.
Did you have some kind of childhood trauma with a wiki that made you
hate
them so? I mean, did one touch you inappropriately? :-)

I am trying to think ahead to the issues we would encounter. I'm glad
you find it funny, but it is important to plan ahead when starting any
long-term commitment. Volunteer groups have a habit of getting wildly
enthusiastic about anything new, but then not following through and
maintaining the effort. We have a limited amount of "volunteer power"
and should use it wisely on efforts that can be maintained
realistically and will benefit the local Linux community.

The point of the wiki isn't always to populate it ahead of time. Part
of it
is just to have it available for people to edit/modify.

Obviously. But we should still figure out if there is anything to put
there in the first place. That is, what needs does the current
website NOT fulfill?

If you have a
trusted group of editors, I don't see an issue with just having it

available.

First, what are the criteria for choosing a trusted group of editors?
Second, what happens when they disagree ... or when one or more of
them leave? The answer to both is that more volunteer time has to be
expended. And that is not something we have a whole lot of.
