Chris, this is probably for you...
I use GPSMAN to d/l data from my garmin geko 201 to my ubuntu box. It saves
the file in a format that I can later upload to the GPS, which is a text
file.
I then export the data to GPX, again using GPSMAN. For some reason, I do not
have much luck with GPX on Google Earth, especially with multiple tracks, so
I use GPSBabel to convert the gpx file to kml format and view it with Google
Earth.
I can also d/l from the garmin using GPSBabel and save it as kml format as
well.
Q1. Is there a way to open the file saved from garmin with gpsbabel (I am
not sure what the format name is, it is not 'garmin' and it is not 'text'
and it is not 'csv', all of which I tried and convert it to .kml without
going through gpx?
Q2. Is there a way to use gpsbabel to transfer the data from the garmin to
the PC in its original text format, so I can upload it to the garmin later
on?
Maybe I should have said 'what is the way' instead of 'is there a way'...
Thanks,
Z.
