[Linux] FreeGeek or ByteWorks in South FL?

I couldn't agree more.  Just to clarify, I wasn't suggesting that anyone
or any group create a FreeGeek or ByteWorks program.  That would be an
enormous undertaking.  Rather, I was asking if something similar to
those projects already existed in the area, even if it is something as
minimal as one person building one box.

the recipient gets a computer, but rather they have spent some time
being trained first.  With the Build Program of FreeGeek, the person
getting the box has already built five other boxes.  With ByteWorks, the
child has gone through a six-week (~10 hours) course on using the
applications.  I wonder if the training reduces the demand for support.

BTW, I couldn't find any mention of FreeGeek or ByteWorks in the mail
archives, although I did find several references to charity and refurbish:
