[Linux] K3b problems??? (WAS: "Fixing" failed download)

The burn problem you are experiencing is probably related to DMA, much
the same as my issue was.

My issue with K3b was that it wouldn't burn successive discs at the
same burn rate and sometimes not at all.  Since K3b doesn't force DMA
by default since some DVD and CD drives are buggy about DMA, you have
to know your machine and do the tweaks to get it to work right.  Also,
and I'm only saying this from personal experience, NEVER burn a DVD
above 8x.  I have yet to get a functional disc after burning above 8x
in spite of having a really good 16x Dual Layer drive.  Configure your
/etc/hdparm.conf file and go from there.

And in response to the bad MD5 ISO: dude, if there are that many bad
chunks, just download it again OR have a friend with a fast connection
do it for you.
