Did not work. I have since found there are at least two types of PDF files.
This one happens to be a text document that was scanned into Adobe and in
reality is an image. Regular translators cannot handle it... the gmail "see it
now" will only work on text PDF files.
What I have learned:
A PDF is not always a PDF.
1. The one I was trying to convert was actually a document that had been
scanned into PDF format and so was actually an image not a text document.
Therefore can only be opened by Adobe.
2. Still have not learned how to import a text PDF into OO.
3. Did find programs (expensive) to convert PDFs (text or scanned documents) to
DOC or XLS (http://www.investintech.com/)
Limitations of this program
- 7 days free trial
- will not do an entire document (only 3 pages at a time with trial
version)
Still working on using OO to open a text PDF.
