Hi Guys,

Is there a program that would allow me to LISTEN to songs on the iPod
Shuffle (the cheapie one, which I got as a gift from a vendor)?

I can connect it to the USB port, see the content (though the files names do
not contain the song, and look something like AZHX.mp3) in a folder
structure. I can delete folders or files (songs), and I can play them on the
computer's sound system. I can use this to remove the garbage that is left
behind when syncing to different computers (iTunes apparently only deletes
the files from the database when you sync, but leaves the files behind and
does not free the space for more songs).

What I can't do under Linux (Ubuntu 7) is actually play the songs on the
iPod - the computer treats it as a USB drive, and that includes the music
players (I tried all the players that are supposed to handle iPods, AFAIK).

Can someone tell me which program I should use, and how do I overcome the
particular problem mentioned above?

Thanks,

Z.
