For some reason I have had pop3 service stop at random over the past few
weeks, and we have had to restart the process. We never had to do this
before, so after some digging I found this message in
/var/log/messages...

Oct 10 13:20:38 server-name inetd[18620]: pop-3/tcp server failing
(looping), service terminated

I read in a couple of posts that it may be due to a limit in reference
to the amount of connections. Another says to try a different
tcpserver...
Also the post that references the limit setting doesn't have an
explanation of the limit, I am assuming ( bad word ) that it would be
configured here withing the inetd.conf file, but can't find reference...

pop-3 stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd ipop3d

any help would be greatly appreciated....

THANKS!
