I have had susefax working with SuSE 6.4. It may be as simple as upgrading
to 6.4.
I have a USR 56k modem hooked up to a standard serial port, and I have it
working with mgetty+fax. I can also dial into the box and login as a shell
acount. Inbound and outbound faxes work, and I can view them with TheGimp. I
haven't found anyting useful on the next for sending a fax from X in Linux
that was free that was worth the trouble to run.
I haven't been able to get ppp working for a Win9x laptop to connect to that
same modem though. I suspect that if I break the fax config, then the dialup
ppp may work for the laptop that I want to connect to the box. (Thusly
giving me my own ppp dialup account that I can surf out to the net from thru
the Linux box) I have more troubleshooting to do.
