For the doubting Thomas's, I have been told the same thing. 2 diff.

engineers have told me that was why people in my area were having
problems
w/ v90. They say modems are built w/ noise cancelling and delay
compensation features. When the line is "too good" the modem can't
handle
it.
However, when you try to get an attenuator from BS they claim no
knowledge
of such a device (the support staff are either too stupid and/or don't
want to officially admit they have problems!) If I was more of an EE it
probably wouldn't be too difficult to come w/ an RC circuit.
A suggestion I got on another forum from someone with the same problem
was
to get a 1,000 foot spool of phone line and wire that in between the
modem
and the wall jack. This would add enough attenuation and delay to fix
the
problem.
