[Linux] Telocity Question

I recently moved and have a new telocity connection. It is working
intermittently, and I'm not sure what's wrong. I thought it would be faster to
check here first than spending time on hold with their tech support.

I see 2 different problems. Some of the time, the alarm light flashes, but the
services actually functions. I suspect this may be due to the poor phone
wiring in my house which I have not yet had time to replace.

The other problem is that everything appears to be working, but I can't access
the internet. If I check the modem's internal status page, the first 2
connections are listed as up, but the 3rd is listed as down. Confusingly, the
second one is called "internet" and the third "telocity".
Does anyone know exactly what these 3 connections represent?
Is this "telocity" connection being down problem likely related to my house
wiring, or does it mean something further down the line is wrong?

Thanks for any suggestions,
