Astra Information Systems has exciting opportunities for Software and
Technical Support Engineers. Astra is a software developer and computer
systems supplier for wholesale food distributors, importers, and processors.
We have a casual and comfortable workplace headquartered in Weston, Florida
(southwest Broward County).

Responsibilities/Duties:  

We are looking for a dynamic person to provide consistent, hi-quality
technical support to the companies currently using our accounting system.
You will need to troubleshoot customer problems in an organized and
efficient manner, perform hardware and software research and testing as
needed, verify and document issues, and provide feedback to customers and
the Astra team.  Post-contact documentation is required for each call and
will include: entering a support reference in our database, follow-up by
email/phone call to the customer, and internal email and discussion.  You
will also have the opportunity to support end users on various Astra modules
and 3rd party ODBC products (Crystal Reports, Cognos Powerplay, Microsoft
Query).  

Qualifications

You will need to have very strong communication skills and the ability to
multi-task in a fast paced environment.  Our software is designed
specifically to meet the needs of our individual clients so you will need to
be able to quickly learn our system's hardware and networking functions,
capabilities, and database design.  You'll also need to be able to work with
a wide variety of companies and users with varying levels of expertise.   We
are looking for a person with excellent organizational and time management
skills that can work well independently and with a team.  

You should have a minimum of 4 years of college with a Business or
Information Services degree.  You will also need experience and a working
knowledge in the following programs: Windows 95/98/2000/XP, Microsoft
Excel/Word/Outlook, ODBC, Internet Explorer, Firewalls, Fax modems, Printing
(CUPS, print servers), LINUX, UNIX.   Hardware troubleshooting knowledge for
PCs is required.  We require at least one year of related telephone/ direct
customer interaction.  You should also have excellent typing skills.
