I went to Barnes&Noble to check out texts on the LPI and RHCE.
They had two books for the LPIC - One from Sybase and the other from ExamCram. The
Sybase book was more in depth, going into TCP/IP and more detail. The ExamCram was
cheaper and shorter. IMHO, the Sybase book was worth the extra $10. They are
available at Amazon for $25.19 and $37.79.
There was only one RHCE book by Mcgraw-Hill. It was a lot more in depth than the
LPIC books. The material it covered included everything for the LPIC. However, some
of the material seemed a little dated. There was not a whole lot on the newer LVM
which I was looking for specifically.
My thoughts are that it would be better to pick up a generic text (Running Linux by
Matt Welsh comes to mind) and use the online material from IBM for the LPIC.
For the RHCE, a dedicated book is good to have, but we would need to download the
online manuals to really be complete. These are available in PDF form and I can pull
them with one of my accounts if needed.
