Gentlemen,
Welcome to the Cert list at FLUX!
I think our first order of business should be to decide which
certification to get. I've always been partial to RedHat distros and
the RHCE certification simply because of it's brand recognition among
corporations. However, if we're all using different distros on
laptops at the meetings, maybe we should consider one of the other
distro-independent certs. The RHCE cost may be prohibitive to some
so let's take a pole of who wants to pursue which certification and
their reasons. The three that I know of are the RHCE, the Linux+
from CompTia and the LPI.
As per training, I propose we each buy a copy of a single
certification book and learn from the book. Books are cheap enough
and we are all competent enough to help each other. This will keep
the cost of learning very low.
Please share your thoughts and preference as to which certification.
Thanks,
Larry
